Remember that earlier post about the 3 big bags of candy we got for trick or treaters? You remember, the ones I'm desperate to give away because I've eaten my weight in Butterfingers and peanut butter cups? Well, guess how many treaters we had. Come on. Guess.
Zero.
Greg and I were debating the cause. We never have tons of treaters, but we usually have 15-20. We think the lack of visits tonight was either due to the fact that Clinton had it's downtown carnival thing LAST night to keep from conflicting with church, but left the treating scheduled for tonight (and what parent wants to dress the kids up twice???), or the fact that we totally forgot to turn on the porch light until 7:15...

Nah, most of my kids came between 7 and 8. One came at 8:40. Well, technically my neighbor came over at 9:15, but she was just visiting.
They were CUTE. I got one little Dorothy, complete with wig. Almost fell over, she was so adorable.
I live in the sticks - we don't get trick or treaters. More butterfingers for me!! Oh wait, I didn't buy any Halloween candy this year......=(
We shut off the lights at 8:30 ... after the 200 or so trick-or-treaters. It was fun, but it was a long night.
200? Dang. I thought 20 was a big night last year!
In the past we've gotten most of ours between 6-7:30, but this year they didn't have daylight savings time, so it didn't get dark until later. I'd bet there weren't many out anyway since the city thing was the night before.
And Mayberry, the whole scam is to buy the candy, then say, "Ooops! No treaters! Now we gotta eat it!" That's what my mom does. She buys the stuff my dad likes becuase the only ones they get are my 2 cousins!
That's why you only buy the stuff YOU like - like Susan said. I had to make a store run on the way home yesterday, mainly because the candy we had was the cheap hard stuff.
I wasn't gonna buy much of anything, not anticipating much participation anyway, but since we NEVER have good snacks in the house Greg saw it as a prime opportunity to score chocolate. I still think he intentionally left the light off!
